Tainted Angel by Anne Cleeland is a spy story set in Napoleonic times. Intrepid heroine Vidia Swanson has dealings with the British and the French, as well as some who seem to play both sides. Who is she really, and whose side is she on?
Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally is the story of a young girl whose life is changed by the breakup of her parents' marriage. Relationships with family, friends, and teachers change as she tries to come to terms with her situation and discover what's important in life.
In Winter's Shadow by Gillian Bradshaw. This version of the Arthurian legend is grittier and more realistic than the traditional tale; there's no magic, Merlin, or Morgan la Fay, and no Lancelot. But there's plenty of love, lust, violence, and betrayal.
Chihuawolf: A Tail of Mystery and Horror by Charlee Ganny is the story of Paco, a feisty Chihuahua who falls in love with Natasha, a disdainful Afghan hound. His scheme to impress her leads him and his best friend into lots of trouble.
Instructions for a Broken Heart by Kim Culbertson. Jessica is devastated to find her boyfriend with another girl. Worse yet, the three of them are going to Italy for two weeks with their high school drama club. Her best friend decides to help with a pack of letters. Jessica is supposed to open one each day and follow the instructions to help her get over her heartbreak. Will it work?
Child of the Northern Spring: Book One of the Guinevere Trilogy by Persia Woolley (reissue of the 1987 classic) is a retelling of the Arthurian legend from Guinevere's point of view, and my first major project with OCR software. Publishers Review states, "While hardly the first book to retell these myths from a woman's perspective, this is an engrossing and satisfying addition to the canon."
Queen of the Summer Stars: Book Two of the Guinevere Trilogy by Persia Woolley continues Guinevere's story after her marriage to Arthur. She endures various intrigues, hardships, and bitter disappointments as she and Lancelot find themselves falling in love.
Song of Slaves in the Desert by Alan Cheuse is the story of a young Jewish man from New York who travels to South Carolina to straighten out matters at his uncle's plantation in the years before the Civil War. His story is intertwined with that of a young black woman, descendant of many generations of slaves, who is determined to win her freedom.
The Samantha Granger Experiment: FUSED by Kari Lee Townsend is about a girl facing a lot of challenges: adjusting to her parents' divorce, moving to a new community, trying to make new friends and fit in, and getting embroiled in a mystery. It's no wonder this young superhero gets a little too attached to her cell phone!
Azrael is a collection of religious poetry by T.A. Gibson. Azrael, the angel whose name literally means "help of God," symbolizes the agent of change in the stages of a person's life and experiences. Gibson builds on a long tradition of poets who have explored spiritual themes, including the metaphysical poets and Emily Dickinson. The beautiful cover art by Lynn Jensen Steffey, reminiscent of William Blake, complements this thoughtful book.
